As many already know, health screening is important to us.\u00a0 This doesn’t mean that we will never experience a health issue, or won’t ever produce pups with a health problem.\u00a0 But, it means that we are proactive in testing and evaluations.<\/p>\n

I have been on the Welsh Terrier Club of America Health Committee for many years now and currently do the on-line health (and death) reports that get reported to the National (US) Club.<\/p>\n

As a breeder, I have also been proactive in testing my breeding dogs for many years now.\u00a0 Hip x-ray screens aren’t required by the breed club, but given that problems can happen in any breed, when I have the opportunity, I have had many of my dogs tested for the various things, one being the hip x-ray.\u00a0 OFA (the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) has been involved in this for many decades now and has much history.<\/p>\n

Dogs need to be 2 years and older before their results can be included in the OFA database (for hip evaluations).<\/p>\n
