<\/div>[vc_single_image image=”1919″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”luv-lightbox”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In a total of 14 Welsh Terriers competing at the 2019 AKC National Event, both Mickey<\/a> and Morgana<\/a> were awarded the SELECT DOG and SELECT BITCH awards.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

These are the top awards just following Best of Breed and Best Opposite Sex awards.\u00a0 The BOB award went to the Welsh Terrier that eventually went on to win Terrier Group 1 and was, by far, the top Terrier in the US for 2019.\u00a0 Competition in the breed was stellar, in spectacular condition, and presented by some of the best in the sport.<\/p>\n

Mickey was conditioned and presented by Bill & Taffe McFadden<\/a>.\u00a0 Morgana was conditioned and presented by Jenny Wornall-Rangel.<\/p>\n

The AKC National<\/a> has become one of the premier events in the US to attend.\u00a0 It is the last show of the year and is held in Orlando Florida.\u00a0 It is a huge event with year-end ‘finals’ in many of the sports areas — National Owner Handler Series, Junior dog stakes, agility, dock diving, in addition to the main conformation event.<\/p>\n

A record number of dogs competed at the 2019 AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin on Dec. 14 and 15.\u00a0\u00a0 Almost 5,300<\/strong> dogs competed for the title of National Champion, a total of 11,008 dogs were entered across the entire weekend’s events.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This year it was sponsored by Royal Canin (which, coincidentally, we do feed here at Darwyn!).<\/p>\n
